Server-side MarkTag uses your own domain to set first-party cookies. By routing tracking through a subdomain like mtag.yoursite.com, the cookies come from your domain - not an external tracking service. Ad blockers can't distinguish these from your regular site cookies, so they don't block them. Result: you capture complete analytics data from every visitor.
Setting this up requires adding a CNAME record to your DNS and installing our SDK. Once configured, all tracking automatically flows through your domain.
Client-side MarkTag
Client-side MarkTag is the easiest way to get started - just add our script tag and start tracking immediately. It works like traditional analytics tools, using third-party cookies from our tracking domain. While some data may be blocked by ad blockers, it's perfect for quickly testing MarkTag and understanding its value.
When you're ready for complete data capture, upgrading to server-side is straightforward. Your tracking code stays the same - only the underlying routing changes.
